Creating custom post types and pages to display theme

    I’m fairly new to WP. How come WP has a visual editor for pretty much everything except custom post types? Or is there a way to do this somehow?

    I wish you could even create custom post types without using a plugin or editing source files.

    I’m using the Salient WP theme and I’m not seeing an option to create types or type templates there either.

    Any info would be appreciated! Thanks.

    Many thanks for reaching out.

    Generally speaking for WordPress, creating custom post types is not something that you can do straight out of the box.

    However, it is possible to create custom post types on WordPress.com using a plugin, like those seen here: https://wordpress.org/plugins/search/custom%20post%20types/

    What information are you looking to convey to your audience out of curiosity? You may not need a custom post type plugin, depending on what you’re building.
