Creating Directory

    Hello! I have a few questions about what my best course forward is.

    I’d like to create a local health care directory (for therapists). I found a Themeforest theme called Listify that I think will work well for what I need. Here are my questions:

    1. Is this relatively simple to use?
    2. Is the process of WordPress hosting it simple? Do I need to have any advance skills? I’m not trained in any CS but I do have limited knowledge and fierce tenacity to figure things out!
    3. Do I only need to purchase hosting through WordPress if I already own the domain?
    4. My domain is on GoDaddy, should I transfer or map?

    Hi there, there are some hosting options available using WordPress.

    You could upgrade to a business account and then upload the directory theme of your choice. Follow this link for the pricing options. https://wordpress.com/pricing/
    You would also get access to live chat support.

    Or have your hosting on GoDaddy and install WordPress open source software.
    Listify and My-Listing will be able to do what you desire,

    Q1, In all honesty, you would need to go through some tutorials to get the hang of it.

    Q2. The hosting provider will set you up with hosting and may help with a WordPress installation. You can then do most editing from the WP Dashboard.
    Like uploading the thee of choice. You only need to customize the CSS if you desire a specific look and feel that is not supported by the theme’s customization

    Q3&4. If you own the domain you can have it hosted by GoDaddy, WordPress.com or any other hosting provider. Domain-Mapping is only needed if your domain is hosted somewhere else than WordPress.com. You can read here about mapping. https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/

    On another note, there are two flavors of WordPress. WordPress.com and WordPress.org (self-hosted) You read more about that here. https://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
