Creating drop-down menu option–is it possible?

It is possible to create drop downs for the tabbed headlines. Like sub-headings? I’m so confused. I just want to know if it’s possible before I spend all the time looking up how to do it.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Yes it’s possible. Some themes support drop-downs natively and some don’t. But on any theme we can create a custom menu. A custom menu allows you to display Categories with drop-downs to sub-categories in tabs along the horizontal navigation where normally only Pages tabs are displayed. If you wish you can also include Pages with drop-downs to sub-pages and/or Tags pages and/or Custom Links in your custom menu as well. You are in charge of what appears in a custom menu. You choose the order in which to display any and/or all the foregoing in your custom menu. You choose which to display and which to hide. http://en.support.wordpress.com/menus

    hi,
i just followed the instructions from the Menu Support and started creating a custom menu in Pilcrow.
I made an “About” dead link, and put a few categories under it, hoping that hovering over the About tab in the menu would make the Categories drop down, but nothing happens.
There are no posts under the categories yet, but from the support it does not seem like that’s an issue?
    thank you

We can’t give insight without a link to the blog in question, starting with http.

“There are no posts under the categories yet, but from the support it does not seem like that’s an issue?”
No, it’s not an issue. The Categories widget won’t display a category if there are no posts filed under that categor, but a custom menu displays whatever you tell it to display.
    “but nothing happens”
Then you didn’t do it successfully. See other instructions here:
