creating drop down menu's linked to blog posts
-
I don’t even know the right terminology to explain this. I want to have a Page on the Menu that says Recipes. I want there to be drop down menu’s from there: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, etc. Then when I post a dinner recipe I want it to be listed under dinner. When I create a breakfast recipe I want it to be listed under Breakfast. I want to be able to put multiple blog posts under those categories, not just one static blog post under each one.
I’ve watched video’s, read tutorials, asked FB friends. So far I can’t figure it out.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

monibush,
It’s fairly simple to accomplish what you’ve described with Custom Menus. I’m not aware of a limit on the number of posts and pages that can be included in a single custom menu.Your custom menus page:

You will need an organizational structure ie. a custom menu that features both dynamic categories and sub-categories pages as items in it.Technically you can’t post to more than one page on any blog but do read on. Static Pages and dynamic Category Pages are not the same. The former cannot automatically update but the latter do.

http://en.support.wordpress.com/category-pages/If you want to have pages that do update then they must be replaced by dynamic category pages (and sub-category pages) that will automatically update every time you publish a post assigned to the relevant category and/or sub-category.
By default the front page of the blog is the post that displays all posts in your blog. Though there is only one dynamic page in a blog for posts (not pages) http://en.support.wordpress.com/post-vs-page/ and we cannot post to more than that one page, we can create the appearance that we have posted to more than one page.
We organize posts by assigning categories to them. You can create a custom menu and add the dynamic categories and sub-categories pages into the custom menu, and order them as you wish.

Sweet baby Jesus, I’ve got it! Thank you so much @timethief
So simple to do! I just didn’t have the right vocabulary/know how to explain what I was trying to do! So so many hours wasted when it was so simple all along!
