Creating file subfolder
-
I’m hoping you can point me toward a tutorial or some such.
I’m working on a non-profit site. One of the features of the site will be a page with PDFs of the club’s monthly newsletter, grouped by year. I have 13 years of the PDFs, with a new one being added monthly.
I want to set up a folder that automatically displays links to the files within the folder, with the capability of the latest one being displayed as soon as it is uploaded. I’m intending to set up a file upload form for the newsletter editor to use when each one is ready.
Appreciate the help.

Hello,

You can use our guide to embed a PDF file so it displays on the main folder page. This would take care of displaying the latest one. About the 13 years of PDFs, do you want to make these as links to download the PDF file or just open to view? Please clarify so I can make a suggestion for that.
I’m intending to set up a file upload form for the newsletter editor to use when each one is ready.
Does that mean you want a form on the site for your Newsletter editor to upload a file and automatically have that display as the latest file on the folder page?
A little more information will help us look for the best solution for you here.

The past PDFs would be best just viewed, although downloading would be fine, too.
I’m looking to create a page on the site that would display links to the current year’s PDFs, with a link to the archives of past years. Yes, the newsletter editor would hopefully use a form to upload the current month, which would be displayed immediately.
I’m hoping to accomplish this without a plug-in, although I’ll probably be using WPForms for the form.

Hello,
Thank you for the details. So for the creating links of this year’s PDF’s and archives of the past, the File block will work. You can separate them year wise using a Heading block so that it is easier for the visitors to navigate.

If you want to use a form plugin to get a file added, that will need some custom development for the file to automatically upload to the page as the latest newsletter.
Instead, if you can give the Newsletter editor a user role on the site, they can manually login to update the page with the club’s monthly newsletter. With this approach you can do this without a plugin.
I hope this information is helpful to you.
