creating gallery albums with CSS?
-
Hi,
I bought the CSS upgrade, hoping to help making my gallery look better.
I need to create 3 different photo albums on my gallery page. I know that i am not allowed to use plugins, and that i can add widgets or 3 extra pages under the parent gallery page, but i am not interested in creating more pages, as it appears too busy to me.is there any way to simply divide my photo gallery in 3 different photos albums on one single page using CSS?
thanks!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

No. The slideshow and gallery are shortcode and you can’t alter the shortcod, CSS or no.
The thing I think of is for you to use flickr slide shows (with your pics hosted there): -
The other possibility is to upload the different photos for the different sections into different pages (they don’t have to be displayed in those pages) and then you can use the “id” attribute to pull those images from that other page.
[gallery id="402"]
replacing the example 402 with the page id where the other images were uploaded.

typo: shortcod =shortcode
Sorry, it’s 3 a.m. and brain is on low speed.
You can have different galleries on a post or page:
http://gammagirl.wordpress.com/2008/07/27/not-the-official-wordpresscom-gallery-faq/The images must be uploaded to wp.com on your blog and attached to a post or page.
The post or page will have an id number. (note, the post or page can be only a draft which you won’t delete.)
The id number can be seen by hovering over the title of the post; look at the bottom of your screen: it will be the number at the end of http: etc
Use [gallery id="402"] to include that post’s images on another post or page. -
thanks, that helps.
i would still love for WordPress.com to offer more flexible and sophisticated gallery settings.. all of the other features are great, but the gallery settings are dated..
thanks again,

When the gallery first came out, there were few if any options. Over the months and core revisions, they have added quite a number of options via the gallery short code attributes, and I expect they will add more as time goes on. Since the gallery is part of the wordpress core, it isn’t up to wordpress.COM so much to add features, it is up to the wordpress core development team to add new features and capabilities.
