Creating Icons for Social Menu
-
I mean it is not treating all subcategories this way, just a couple of them. This is the only theme I have seen this problem with.
-
I tried it with Karuna and it is showing the full photo of me ( not chopping off the top of my head)!
If you decide to stick with The Publication Theme we can crop the image so that it scales better and doesn’t chop off the top of your head.
Worst of all, it is showing some first children as parents in the menu. In other words, a few of the sub categories are showing up as categories, but all of the sub categories.
Were you ablw to drag + drop the menu items to get them arranged correctly? Are you able to upload a screen shot of the error to your media library?

The menu is OK in the editor. I am currently trying the Together theme. It is also showing children under categories. I guess it shows every category because it isn’t a menu.
I like the sliding panel in Publication and Coherent. Adaption has it, but I haven’t tried it yet.
In Publication, when you click on a parent or first child in the menu, it shows a list of posts in a “thumbnail” (abbreviated) view. What is the “thumbnail” view called?
I didn’t notice the crop feature for images until I upgraded to Premium. Is cropping a Premium only feature?
Although I cropped the image they way I want, Coherent is still chopping my head off. What am I doing wrong?

On Publication, the posts with featured images will display with a thumbnail view as seen here.

Cropping an image for one theme specifically may not translate well to another theme. For this reason, I think it will be best to crop your header image once you’ve picked out a theme. Image cropping is available on our free plan.

So is that considered a thumbnail view?
I can search on thumbnail and it will show me all of the themes with thumbnails views?
The sliding panel on Publication is not available on very many themes.
For a theme that doesn’t have it, could I create one using widgets or CSS?

Good Morning,
So is that considered a thumbnail view?
Yes.
I can search on thumbnail and it will show me all of the themes with thumbnails views?
Browsing by magazine-style themes will give you similar post list options as to what you are looking at with Publication and the thumbnail view. Unfortunately, searching by ‘thumbnail view’ specifically will not be very helpful.
A work around would be that we left or right align the thumbnail featured image of your posts and insert the Read More Tag. This would give you the same look as Publication.
The sliding panel on Publication is not available on very many themes.
For a theme that doesn’t have it, could I create one using widgets or CSS?The sliding panel is specific to a theme and isn’t able to be added if it’s not included. There are some other possibilities.
1. Create a static page and add a slideshow.
2. Add a Gallery Widget.Let me know your thoughts on these options.

Hi Liz,
I haven’t forgotten you. I am taking an online course on html and css to see what could be done to a theme by using css. The html will help me with formatting trouble I run into with my text.
Anyway, I am going to keep Publication as my theme until I finish the course. So I will change this post to resolved.
Thank you and quitevisiblestudios for your help!

HI Steve –
No worries!
You may have already found it, but I wanted to mention our CSS Forum. It’s a public forum, so feel free to take a read through some projects in there if it will help.
We will be here when you need further help. Remember, you just need to add the ‘modlook’ tag into the sidebar on the right to flag us.
Take care :)
