creating link to article on a publication's web site

I have written a post and want to link to an article writtn in another publication. the url of the article i want to link to is http://www.thejewishweek.com/news/new-york-news/re-capturing-friedman-story
i have pasted this information behind the http:// which pops up when i click on the create a link sign. can’t figure out what i am doing wrong. can you help.
