Creating multiple gravatar profiles under one account

Is it possible to create gravatars for multiple individuals under one account?

No, it is not. Every username and profile requires its own account with its own unique email address. http://en.support.wordpress.com/user-profile/
If you want multiple users on your blog, each of the people you want to add will have to create their own account (they can do it without creating their own blogs) and then you can add them as users to your blog: http://en.support.wordpress.com/adding-users/

I did notice that there can be multiple gravatars for the same person under the same account (to have for example a professional and personal, gravatar), but I could see that this might not work for multiple individuals.

I found this link that discusses how you can make multiple gravatars for one individual:
http://blog.gravatar.com/2014/02/06/multiple-identities/But I believe it’s really a way to have different photos for different purposes (personal, professional etc), so I think you are right that they are not completely separate gravatars in one username account.
