Creating multisite funtionality
-
Hello!
I’m looking for help concerning activation of multisite functionality. My site was originally a wix domain, that was transferred over to wp.com site, and has third party hosting (inmotion). So, my site will have multiple key functions (social media, content, community, purchasing, etc), and I would like to split all of them up into multiple subregistry sites under one parent. Base on what i’m reading though, it appears that only wordpress.org has that ability, but I have my own hosting so I didn’t think this would be a problem. My thinking would be to do the following:
1) register for the appropriate subdirectory based on the site function
2) backup anything I need to, and transfer over to newly created subdirectory
3) Activate/configure the multisite network among all of the domains, so it is all under one roofHowever, I may be completely off on this one, and/or I may need to backup everything i’ve created on my .com wordpress and transfer to multiple .org wordpress sites….was hoping I could get some help here please!
All the best
Ted

It looks like you’re mixing up WordPress.com and the WordPress.org software. Just because your site ends in .com doesn’t mean it’s hosted here at WordPress.com. It’s hosted with Inmotionhosting and will be using the WordPress.org software so the correct support is found at: https://wordpress.org/support/forums/
