Creating new wordpress.com & .com for edcwriter

    I simply want to set up a new free wordpress blog site and register its .com domain

    Hello!

    I’m not sure if I understand what you are asking completely: you want a whole new site with the domain “edcwriter.com”? It looks like you deleted the “edcwriter.wordpress.com” already, so I assume you’re just looking to create a new site with the custom domain.

    This page details how to create a custom domain. You will need to purchase a WordPress.com plan, as the free plans do not offer an option to have a custom domain. Each paid plan comes with one free domain credit.

    Go to the Domains page.

    If prompted, choose the blog you wish to add a domain to.

    Enter the domain you wish to register in the search box.

    If the domain is available it will show up below the search in a green box.

    Click Add.

    Choose if you’d like to add email to your domain.

    Fill in the Domain Registration Information.

    Choose if you’d like your contact information to be public or private.

    Make a payment to complete the registration and purchase a WordPress.com plan if you don’t have one already.

    Update your domain to be the primary domain used for your site on the Domains page.

    Thanks for the quick response.

    Back in April I deleted edcwriting.wordpress.com and edcwriting.com and in an ideal world I’d like to reuse them but do realise that it isn’t possible.

    I’d like to start blogging again to support my writing and so went with for the edcwriter equivalent sites but the WordPress options are now clearly a little different and as I got a bit mixed up with the plans I unwisely thought it best to delete edcwriter.wordpress.com in case I got inadvertently charged at a premium rather personal rate. I guess as I’ve deleted this WordPress site there is no point in taking the available edcwriter.com domain? My only option to start afresh?

    Once a site has been deleted, it’s not possible to reuse the WordPress.com again. However, you can create a new site and add edcwriter.com as a custom domain. The good news is, the domain is currently available so I’d recommend registering quickly if you want to use it :)
