Creating Pages for Post Categories

I’m thinking of upgrading my blog, i.e., making it look more like a standard website and removing the more bloggish features like Recent Posts, Recent Comments, etc. In time I plan to start making original videos and embedding them onto the site to complete the transformation. I’ve seen and read tutorials on how to make a blog look like a website, but I still have one question that so far I haven’t been able to find the answer to yet: currently our blog posts are placed into categories, and I’d like to turn said categories into pages, but I’d also like to move the corresponding blog posts onto said pages. I think I know how to create pages, but I’m not sure how to move my existing posts onto said pages, or if such a thing is even possible. Is there a way I can do this, and if so, how? Any help or guidance will be greatly appreciated.

I’d like to turn said categories into pages

    Hi @silverstardp,

WordPress automatically creates archive pages for each category.

For example, here’s the page for the “Cartoon Country” category:
    https://twinsanity.co/category/cartoon-country/

The documentation for category pages can be found at:
    https://en.support.wordpress.com/category-pages/

I hope this helps. If it doesn’t, please let me know :)

So if I’m understanding this correctly, all I have to do is create pages for the post categories and the corresponding posts should be archived therein, or I should create a new post in a category and publish it beforehand.

    Sounds good. Thanks!

One more question (not to be a bother): are there any WordPress themes that are more receptive or better suited to a website appearance?

Once you assign a new or existing post to a category, as outlined here, a category archive page will automatically be created.

All available themes can be found at https://wordpress.com/themes

If you click in the search field, you can filter themes by layouts, features, and styles, to find one that might suit your needs and design preferences – https://cloudup.com/cmnIb6xjRAJ
