Creating pages I want to be public but not emailed out to subscribers

    Hi…so we post recipes. I want to link the recipes from our drop down menu. So I thought I could create posts that were just the recipes, then publish them without publicizing them. No email notifications to subscribers. No dice. When I made them private, only I can see them. When I make them public, but turned off Facebook, Tumblr, etc, the emails went out to subscribers. Is there a way to temporarily turn off email to subscribers??? Thanks!
