Creating PayPal donate button
-
I can paste the code from Paypal into a widget text box, but when I hit the “Save” button, most of the code disappears. Same thing happens if I try to create a separate page. I have followed the directions in your tutorial, but they don’t work for me.

Are you running one of the browsers and versions of them found here http://browsehappy.com If not then upgrade. if you are then try clearing your browser cache and cookies. http://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/#clear-your-cache-and-cookies
The guide is for an unencrypted PayPal button and unless you follow the guide religiously and do not try to add anything or subtract anything the button will not work. http://en.support.wordpress.com/paypal/
When you paste the code onto your page, please be sure you are pasting it into the Text editor and not the Visual editor. (You can switch between them using the tabs labelled Visual and Text in the upper right corner of the editor.)

Did all that, but most of the code still disappears upon clicking “Save” in a widget text box.

Hi there,
Can you please double-check to be sure that you follow the instructions in our PayPal guide exactly, including step #9? Please be sure to copy the link on the Email tab and not the HTML code from the Website tab. That HTML code includes code that isn’t allowed on WordPress.com, for security reasons.
Please give that a try and let me know if you continue to have trouble with it. :)

I have been trying to get this to work by pasting code into a wordpress widget text box.
The webpage code is partially deleted when saving the box.
The email code produces only the code text with no hyperlink or button. It does not go the the paypal site -
Hi there,
You can use the email code from PayPal to create a link or button. You can use steps #10-14 in this guide to come up with the code you need to do that: PayPal
Once you have the link or button created, you can copy the code from the Text editor and paste it in a text widget. You’ll need that code, rather than PayPal’s website code, for it to work here at WordPress.com.
