Creating Post, Link Option Greyed Out—Why?

The Link option (for links within your text) worked before, but on a new post it’s greyed out. Why is that? How do I enable it?

The link tool is always greyed out till you select the word or phrase that must be turned into a link.

Next question: Any way to change font size?

Font size of what exactly?
Body text in posts, mostly. I assume headline text can’t be changed. I’d like to increase the header text size, too, but that doesn’t seem to be possible. Don’t see any font options, either, except for style.

Changing font families, colors and size in text in posts or pages either post by post or page by page can be done by coding into the HTML editor. http://en.support.wordpress.com/editors/font-size-color/

As timethief said, to change the size of anything other than the content you create, you need the upgrade.

I bookmarked that Support page; I can handle HTML coding, but as suggested there it may be more trouble than it’s worth.
Would it be be hard for WP staff to add the size and some font-selection option shortcuts to the edit-post toolbar? It’s a small step beyond the buttons they have now.

I made a mistake above: I wrote “To change the color of the body text” instead of change the size, but the link I gave is the right one anyway. -

WordPress.com sells a custom design upgrade and the likelihood they will add what you request to the Tiny MCE editor components seems unlikely.
