Creating static front page
-
I am trying to create more of a web feel for my blog and have tried to follow the steps for a static front page. I don’t see the option in the settings for choosing a static front page as the tutorial tells me to. Any help is greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

First you must create a page to become the static front page. Second you must create a page for your posts to appear on.
create pages > http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/
set a static front page > http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/front-page/
Third you simply select them on this page > Settings > Reading
Front page displays

__A static page (select below)

Hi TimeThief and thanks. I don’t see the front page options on my reading settings page. I have made two pages and tried to set one as static, but this is all I see:

Blog pages show at most ___ posts
Syndication feeds show the most recent ___ items
For each article in a feed, show ___
For each article in a feed, show ___No choice for:

Ah ha – changing to public did the trick. I guess those can’t be seen in private mode. Thanks!! Problem seems to be solved!

I copied and pasted from the section immediately above the one you posted. What you posted is only for RSS Feeds. Go back to this page Settings > Reading and look at the very top of the page above the section you point to.
