Creating Topic/Comment Archive Pages

  • Unknown's avatar

As the home page of my blog increases in size I wish to introduce an archived page[s]. How do I take the existing topics and comments and move them to an archived page.

All I really want on the home page is two maybe three topics, the rest to fall in archival. Any help would be appreciated.

Do you have a wordpress.com blog? The website linked in your username is not a wordpress.com blog. If you have a wordpress.com blog, then
Settings > Reading > Blog pages show at most … pages
will limit the number of posts that show on the home page.

Yes I have a wp blog. Its name is The Gosford Grunt. The question is removing, or rather, moving existing blogs and comments from the home page to an archive page. Thus the home page will only show current topics [3 at most] and not a whole string of posts from months ago.

    That is not possible.
Well it is, with a workaround:
    1. Create a new blog, preferably use the same theme and customize it the same way.
    2. Export posts from “old” blog and import them into the “new” blog.
    3. Delete the posts in the “new” blog that are not archive.
    4. Delete the posts in the “old” blog that are archive.
    5. Create links between the main blog and the archive and back (You can make a link in a text widget in the sidebar)
    That’s my suggestion.
