Creating website

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hello,

I would like to move my website from Wix to WordPress because I’ve had some issues with embedding elements and I need it for my business.

I would like to create a website from scratch on WordPress and then move the domain once it’s ready (one or two weeks). Can I do that?

I say that because when I first say I want to create a website, it asks me to enter a domain. Can I enter another domain, leave my WordPress site unpublished for now and then transfer my domain later on?

Also, what happens to the payment I made for my Wix account? Will that be lost? Thanks!

    Lara

  • Hi there Lara, I don’t know much about Wix’s refund policy, so you’ll need to check with them on that. But as for this:

I would like to create a website from scratch on WordPress and then move the domain once it’s ready (one or two weeks). Can I do that?

Sure thing. You’re welcome to create your new site with us before pointing the domain here. That way your current site can stay “live” until your new one is ready.

I do recommend getting a plan earlier on if you’ll need it, since they have other features you might find useful, including direct support:

Then just avoid using the domain options until you’re ready, and then you can map or transfer the domain.

Let us know if you need more help!
