Creating website for a non-profit organization, please help!

To make this a short description, I am proficient in webdev languages and I am familiar with WordPress’ UI through 2 separate jobs that I have had. The issue is I have never made a WordPress website from scratch.

The organization already has a website and they are looking to change everything and pretty much start from scratch. We are moving to WordPress and completely getting rid of our web host/back-end/everything except for the domain name.

My problem is that I don’t know exactly what package to get in order for me to hand code my website while using WordPress, I want to be able to code HTML, CSS, JS, PHP etc. and not just use a WordPress theme. I also would like to know how to move the domain name over to WordPress and if I would need a new web host or if WordPress hosts as well.

I’m sorry if my question seems dumb to a lot of you, I am self-taught and really young so everything is a learning experience for me. Any help is appreciated :)

BY THE WAY that blog is not the website, this wouldn’t let me post my question without a blog URL so i just attached a random one.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

You cannot do those on a WordPress.COM hosted blog. So stop right now and hire a web host http://wordpress.org/hosting and set up a WordPress.ORG software install. Read the differences here http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

There is no WordPress.com upgrade you can purchase that provides:

I want to be able to code HTML, CSS, JS, PHP etc. and not just use a WordPress theme

aside from VIP hosting and my guess is there’s not way you are in that league http://vip.wordpress.com/our-services/

Just a note about hand coding – if you end up on a .ORG install and start hand coding PHP & modifying themes and you are not very very good with LOTS of experience you can open up security holes big enough to drive a cement mixer through with lots of room left over

depending on your specific requirements you might be able to be hosted here – you give up the coding as noted above and some flexibility – – lots of non-profits here – but it depends what the site needs to do as to if you can make a site here work for you – look at your requirements closely – and ask a few specific “can this be done here” as opposed to “want to code”
