Creating widget area above posts on home page? Newbie

    Forgive me please if I’m not using the correct jargon. Recently came over from Joomla. At Huaweireport.com, I’d like to put a few widgets below the header and on top of the posts. 2 twitter feeds and a set of linked sites,
    Put another way, I’d like the functionality of a sidebar moved to the top.
    Advice on the best way welcome. There are so many plugins doing something like this I can’t figure out which.
    Or do I have to add a few lines to the code?
