Creating WordPress Website
-
Hello there, I had contacted customer support a few days ago in regards to getting information transferred from our Go Daddy host. The support specialist got back to me and provided a helpful link but it wasn’t the answer I was looking for. She provided this link: https://wordpress.com/support/move-domain/incoming-domain-transfer/.
That’s very informational but the question I am asking is if we start creating a website under a certain name say ‘ website.com’ and we were to re brand under a new name ‘ newwebsite.com’ would we have to pay the yearly subscription again? Or would there be a way of transferring the build out website onto a new name.

Hi there,
A domain is registered for a full year at a time, and once it’s past the 96-hour refund period, it cannot be changed.
So if you were to register one domain, and then a few months later register a different domain, you’d need to buy the second domain as a separate upgrade – you wouldn’t be able to apply the free domain in your plan to that second domain, as the free domain credit can only be used for a single domain registration.
The same applies if you used the free domain credit to transfer an existing domain to us from another registrar – the transfer or registration of any additional domains will be separate upgrades.
However, mapping a domain to us (when you leave the domain at the current registrar and just point it to us) as part of a paid plan is free for an unlimited number of domains. So if you already own both domains somewhere else and you initially map domain A to us, you can add domain B at any time, or even switch the two around, at no additional cost.
Let me know if you have any more questions about this.
