  I’m having a frustrating time with Creative Commons, let alone just a garden variety copyright message for my blog. Among other things, adding same to a text widget seems impossible. Then dragging same across the river to add to the blog does not seem to work. Any advice for the novice?

  Take a look at this support document which explains how to use the post editor to create all the stuff for text widgets using the visual editor tools. It makes it much easier.
