Creator of Site is Dead, Organization Has No Access

  The creator of a website for my organization is dead. I have no control over the website and need access. The deceased creator used their personal contact and personal information.

  I don’t have a site with WordPress.com yet

  Hi there,

  Can you tell me the URL of the site you’re trying to access?

  If the site is hosted with us on WordPress.com, we can only turn control of the site over to the site owner’s next of kin, so please reach out to them directly. They’ll need to follow this process to get control of the account:

  https://wordpress.com/support/deceased-user/

  Once they have access to the account, they can then transfer ownership of the site to you as explained at https://wordpress.com/support/transferring-a-site-to-another-wordpress-com-account/

  If the site was built using the open source version of WordPress at another hosting provider, you’ll need to contact that hosting provider and follow their process for this instead.
