Credit Card pending amount?

I have an upcoming purchase coming do for ad free account of $24.00. Today my credit card reflects a pending hold of $40.00. Why the difference?

After reviewing your account, it appears that you recently updated your credit card information. Currently, there are two upgrades associated with your account: a domain connection priced at $13 per year, and a no-ads feature priced at $24 per year.
The renewal for your domain connection is scheduled for next year, and I don’t see any pending renewals amounting to $40 in your account. My assumption is that when you updated your card on June 6, it triggered an authorization check. However, no actual charge was made, and your card company has yet to remove that authorization from your account.
The renewal for your no-ads upgrade is set for June 21, and the cost will be $24 (plus tax). If you notice any charges that do not align with this information, please notify us immediately, and we will investigate the matter. Otherwise, everything should be fine as we haven’t processed any charges on your card so far.
