critical error
-
Hello,
I am reaching out because we were trying to do some updating to our website by using the elementor plug in, when everything crashed, we received the critical error message, and we can no longer log into the admin page. If you could please respond to (email visible only to moderators and staff) that would be most helpful, thank you!

Hi there,
Apologies, but we can’t help with your issue directly because we don’t host cflj.org on our WordPress.com managed hosting.
To explain, we are a fully managed hosting provider and use a custom server environment that is optimized for WordPress, provides built-in security and performance improvements, as well as in-house support for your site questions. You can learn more about the performance and security benefits of our managed hosting here: https://wordpress.com/hosting/
Because of the way we’ve optimized our service, we also use a customized version of WordPress that is different (under the hood) from what you use at your current provider. As a result, we do not have access to your site and are not familiar with the source of your issue.
You definitely have the option to move your site to us so we can provide in-house help, and we offer a migration plugin that will help you move your site to our managed hosting in just a few clicks.
The Move to WordPress.com plugin allows you to start migrating a self-hosted WordPress site to WordPress.com directly from the self-hosted site. Prerequisites The Move to WordPress.com plugin installed on your self-hosted WordPress site. All incompatible plugins deactivated on the self-hosted site. ✅ There is no need to create a site on WordPress.com before you get starUnfortunately though, as it stands now, we are not able to help since it is hosted elsewhere. The good news is that help is available here at the open-source WordPress forums: https://wordpress.org/support/forum/how-to-and-troubleshooting
The folks in that forum are more familiar with these kinds of issues and are in the best position to help.
Thanks!

Hello @staff-totoro! Thank you for responding, I think I am confused because our website is through WordPress. Our domain is hosted by someone else, but our website is through WordPress. I am hoping this helps clarify where I am unclear. Thank you so much and I look forward to your response!

Ultimately, what we need @staff-totoro is to be able to update the admin email so that we can get the recovery email sent to an active email address.

Hi @infocflj,
I think I am confused because our website is through WordPress. Our domain is hosted by someone else, but our website is through WordPress
WordPress is free software. We offer a hosting service that manages that software for you, or you can run your own DIY copy with another host. It’s a bit like the difference between a recipe and a restaurant. We have more info here.
So any accounts with us will likely be different from accounts you set up with your own copy of the WordPress code.
Are you using cflj.org/wp-admin to log in?
If that isn’t working, your host may be able to help you make backups and use one of these recovery options. Several don’t require access to wp-admin or email, just your hosting tools.
Then, if you need more help, head to the forums for self-hosted sites at https://wordpress.org/support , since these forums are for the free sites hosted here at WordPress.com.
Here’s more info on the difference between our services and the free software. If you’d like us to manage your site for you on our Business Plan, let us know and we can help you get it imported. Cheers!
