Critical Error
-
Hi there,
I have received a Critical Error message, I believe it happened after updating a PlugIn. Here is the message I receive:
There has been a critical error on your website. Please check your site admin email inbox for instructions.

The issue here is that I can no longer even log in to my WordPress wp-admin site. I’m completely logged out, so I can’t follow any of the steps posted online. I am working on WP.com so none of the .org help really applies. I had to create this new account just to be able to log in to the help section.
Can anyone advise on what to do?
Thank you in advance!

Hi there!
I’m afraid that, your site is not hosted with WordPress.com. It is a site using the open-source WordPress software (from WordPress.org) but hosted elsewhere.
Because WordPress.com and WordPress.org are two entirely separate entities, we cannot access files or data for sites that are hosted elsewhere, so WordPress.com staff can only assist with sites that are hosted on our servers. You can read more about the differences between WordPress.org software and WordPress.com here:
You can look for help at the community forums here: https://wordpress.org/support/forums/
http://wordpress.org/support/ is also a great resource for sites using the open-source WordPress.org software.

I’m sorry, I’ve been struggling so much with this.
This was all set up by a client before I came on board. The thing is I have never used the .org wordpress. Could it be, as I see in the options in the first link you sent me, that it’s a .com business page? All the work I’d done on it was through their wp-admin page, with a theme uploaded to it.
The domain was bought through Netfirms, is that what’s causing all this issue?
The site was working fine until I updated a plug in.
Thank you

On WordPress.com, to be able to upload plugins or themes, you would need plan Business – I do not see any upgrade on your account. If you let me know thr address of your site I can confirm and try to look up your host.

Hi there,
Yes, it looks like the site and domain are both hosted with Netfirms.
I’d definitely reach out to them in regards to your issue:

As staff-mckluskey stated, the WordPress.org community will be able to assist you with this as well:
