Critical error

  • Unknown's avatar

I receive this message when I try to log on to my WordPress.com blog:

Composer detected issues in your platform: Your Composer dependencies require a PHP version ‘>= 7.2.5’.
There has been a critical error on this website. Please check your site admin email inbox for instructions.

My email inbox has no instructions. How should I proceed? Thanks very much!

I don’t have a site linked to this WordPress.com account

  • Hi there!

What’s the address of the site you’re trying to access? What you described does not look like something you would see on WordPress.com.

Please note that these forums are for WordPress.com-hosted sites only. If your site is using the open-source WordPress.org software, we won’t be able to help you out, and you’ll want to seek help at these forums:

    Hi there
    laurabroullire.com
Thanks for any help you can provide

  • Hi there,

Thank you for providing the site URL.

I noticed that your site is hosted on a server, provided by not WordPress.com but Domain.com and was built with the self-hosted version of WordPress, often called WordPress.org.
    https://whois.domaintools.com/laurabroullire.com

This forum is maintained and equipped to support WordPress.com sites.

To clarify, WordPress.com and WordPress.org are two different companies and we cannot access files or data for sites that are hosted elsewhere. For this reason we are also not able to change anything for your site.

This error seems to be caused by a server settings. Your domain provider should be able to help you switching to a different PHP version, or if you are able to log in with domain.com, you should be able to change this for yourself as well.

Also, since your site is a WordPress.org website, the https://wordpress.org/support/ page is a great resource for the self-hosted software, and you can find the support forums at: https://wordpress.org/support/forums/

    I hope that helps!
