Critical Error

    Hello everyone !

Since 2 days the public website page of the company I work for is not reachable anymore. When you reach the homepage it says “A critical error has occurred on this site. Please see your site administration email inbox for more information.” BUT, the only person having the site administration email inbox infos is my boss, who is away for several days. I would like to log into the wordpress dashboard to see if that comes from a rotten extension or the php version by going on “******/wp-login.php” but it has the same “critical error” problem. Though I know I should use a FTP instead, the only way to know the IP of the host and type of FTP linked to the host is to go on host dashboard, and again, only my boss has access of it. Does anyone please have another solution so I can go on the wordpress dashboard to find a solution to this error without needing to count on the Host (OVHCloud) ? Thank you !

  • Hello, I’m sorry to hear that you are having trouble with your website. However, your site is not hosted with WordPress.com. It is a site using the open-source WordPress software (from WordPress.org) but hosted with OVH.

Because WordPress.com and WordPress.org are two entirely separate entities, we cannot access files or data for sites that are hosted elsewhere, so WordPress.com staff can only assist with sites that are hosted on our servers. You can find more information here about the differences between WordPress.org software and WordPress.com: https://wordpress.com/support/com-vs-org/

https://wordpress.org/support/ is a great resource for sites using the open source WordPress.org software, and you can find support for that at: https://wordpress.org/support/forums/

Your hosting provider’s support team may also be able to assist.
