Critical Error on Website
-
I went to my website and got a message: there has been a critical error on your website. Learn more about debugging in WordPress.
I contacted my domain host and they said it looks like WordPress did an update and the woocommerce plugin caused the error.
When I log into my WordPress Account and try to go to My Site, it says there are no sites.
I need help!!

Hi there
I can clarify what’s happening for you.
WordPress is open-source software that you are using to create your website.
WordPress.com offers its own version of the WordPress software, which is a little bit different from the one you are using from WordPress.org (differences .com vs .org).That’s why your hosting provider was the right place to help you with your problem, WordPress.com is another hosting provider and they would not be able to help you with your site.
So when you go into Your sites, from your WordPress.com account, you would any sites that you have created here at WordPress.com, and also sites running the WordPress.org installation that have been connected to your account using Jetpack. My guess is that you haven’t connected it, or maybe you connected it to another account.
To access your administrator dashboard for your site go to your site’s URL and add at the end /wp-adminFrom there you can redownload de WooCommerce plugin, or deactivate it. You can also ask your hosting provider to do that for you, so the site is active again or if you can’t log into your dashboard.
In the future, you can get help from the community for your WordPress.org installation, here: https://wordpress.org/support/forum/how-to-and-troubleshooting/
Hope this helps! 😉

Hi @info15455950c83,
What’s happening is likely due to a plugin conflict, and your WordPress.org host should be able to help you with that.
When I log into my WordPress Account and try to go to My Site, it says there are no sites.
If you’re using the Jetpack plugin, the critical error might be causing connection issues with WordPress.com.
Once your site is back up, you might want to reconnect it, as outlined here: https://jetpack.com/support/reconnecting-reinstalling-jetpack/
Hope that helps.

Hello Metabreakr and Cuelin,
Thank you so much for your responses. As this is a foreign language to me, I have no idea how to use it to correct the issue.
I really wish I could actually talk to someone by phone.
When I log in to my WordPress account it says there is no site, but in my hosting cpanel, I can navigate and see all the files holding the content. I am stuck!!
If either of you is willing to talk to me by phone, that would be great! We can find a way to connect where it is possible. I believe we cannot share our phone numbers here.
Or if you can give me a phone number to talk to someone from the WordPress company itself.
Thanks!

I think there’s some confusion here. There’s three different “WordPress” at play here:
1. The free, open-source WordPress software which powers your website.
2. WordPress.org which is the open-source project that works on the WordPress software and where you can get the software for free to use on your own hosting provider.
3. WordPress.com which is a managed hosting provider of the WordPress software. You’re seeing “no sites” here at WordPress.com because your site is not hosted with us, or at least it’s not under the account you’re currently logged into. Additionally, we don’t have phone support, but I can try to get you pointed in the right direction.
Can you let us know what the URL is of the site where you’re having this problem? Once we have that information, we’ll be better able to advise where you can get help.
Thank you!

Hi Eileen,
I can confirm that your site is using the open-source WordPress software but it’s hosted elsewhere so we won’t be able to help you here.
they said it looks like WordPress did an update and the woocommerce plugin caused the error.
As staff-sheva mentioned before, it looks like a plugin conflict but I think it’s best if you asked for help at https://wordpress.org/support/forums/. Folks there have more experience with self-hosted sites like yours, and will surely be able to advise better :)
