Crop Tool not working

  • Unknown's avatar

Here’s the problem I’m having with my avatar. I haven’t changed my avatar ever since I made my account. My picture uplaods but it’s the tool itself that causes problems. The ‘selection box’ appears and moves just fine. So I select the part of my picture that I want to use as my avatar. Note that the bottom half of my screen (and picture) is covered by a semi-transparent grey (ie I cannot even select the bottom half of my picture, firstly). Secondly, when I go to click on the ‘Crop Image’ button (which is also covered in grey), my mouse’s indicator doesn’t change- it remains as the resize tool. So when I click, my selection box resizes itself to a teeny box and I have to start over.
Am I doing something wrong here?

What browser are you using? If IE, try Firefox.

IE but no hope for me if I were to try FireFox. Thanks anyways. Still wondering if it’s a glitch with my computer or if other people experience this as well.

It’s broken for me with FireFox 3.0.1 under Ubuntu 8.04 as well. AND with the Epiphany browser. I think it’s just broken.

Well, some FAQ – the damn tool isn’t working regardless what browser I use and WordPress doesn’t have an answer? Let’s go somewhere else guys!

When you get the greyed-out bottom part of the screen, do the Cookie Dance: log out, clear cache and cookies, and restart. That generally clears it up.

The crop tool is glitchy and you have to click all over the place to get it to do what you want some days.
