CSS code for comments box
-
Hi,
I am looking for some assistance with altering the CSS code for the comments box on my ‘client love’ page.
Im looking for the ‘LEAVE A REPLY’ text to be altered to say ‘LEAVE A REVIEW’?
Also is there any way to alter the comments free text box so it includes detail boxes i.e.; Name, wedding date and then a free text box?
Much appreciated.

Hi Lynsey-Ann, we can use a bit of CSS trickery to specifically target that page and hide the existing respond title and then add the new text before it and get you where you want to be.
.page-id-43 #respond h3 { visibility: hidden; } .page-id-43 #respond h3:before { content: "Leave a Review"; visibility: visible; } -
Thanks for your response.
Thats good news that you think this is possible. When i have entered the suggested CSS code, the ‘LEAVE A REPLY’ has been removed but the ‘LEAVE A REVIEW’ hasn’t been inserted in its place. The area where the ‘LEAVE A REPLY’ is blank.
I hope the above makes sense.
Thanks Lynsey-Ann

That code example seems to work for me when I test it on your site. Could you add it back in to your custom CSS and let me know when it’s there and saved. Then I’ll take a look at your site (with the missing title) and it might make it easier to figure out what the issue is.

Thats great i can see it has worked a treat now.
I can see however there is 2 boxes ‘website’ and ’email’ how can i remove these? I only wanted to name a requested field.
Thanks in advance.

or if the email box has to remain, can the website box be removed?
Also when a comment is approved and appears on my site, there is a blue icon box next to the comment. Can this be removed in anyway?
Thanks

I’m not seeing the name/website/email fields on your comment forms right now, but you need to go into Settings > Discussion, under Other comment settings, uncheck the top box to allow people to comment without entering email or name.
Then add the following to your custom CSS.
.comment-form-avatar, .comment-form-email, .comment-form-url { display: none !important; } -
When i tick the box with in settings, discussion, other comments, comment author must fill out name and e-mail. It appears that another box on the comments area appears ‘website’. Im happy if the name and email box have to remain but would like the website box to be removed. Is this possible?
I have also tried un-ticking the above mentioned box and inserting the CSS provided in your above comment. This however doesn’t seem to do what i’m looking for. I have left this method on my page for you to see.
Im looking for a mandatory name field and the free text comments box.

Hi, going to https://lynsey-annphotography.com/2016/07/20/james-and-lauries-wedding/ when logged out, when I click in the comment field and the bottom section opens, I see only the “name” field.
The only choice we have is to require, or not require, name and email. We can’t separate those two and require only one. That would actually take rewriting of sections of WordPress core, and we cannot do that.

Apologies it was on the ‘client love’ page im looking at.
Im trying to create a page for clients to leave a review on my service and product.
Im happy for the name and email field to appear, however on the ‘client love’ page there are 3 fields name, email and website. I was hoping we could remove the website field and keep the name and email.
Cheers Lynsey-Ann

Thanks for the clarification. The following specifically targets your Client Love page and that page only.
.page-id-43 .comment-form-url { display: none; }
