CSS Code to Hide Page Title
-
Linen Theme – On my home page, the page title HOME is underneath the slider. I would like to hide this text. I thought I saw a similar question earlier but can’t find it now. What is the CSS to do this?
My blog is http://www.momsbrownthumb.com. Thank you!

You should able to delete the Home link from your menu.
Go to your Appearance -> Menu, then click on the Home menu and then click on delete.
Please see this link if you want to learn more about it: https://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/

Before I do this I want to make sure this won’t delete the page. I just want to delete the text underneath the slider. I still want the home page.
-
It will not delete your homepage. You only removing the link to the home page.
You can click on the logo and it will bring it the homepage.

Sorry, but that isn’t what I’m trying to hide. The word ‘Home” is in the body of the page beneath the slider. This is the word I want to hide (not the link in the menu). Is there a CSS code for this?

Hi there – this should do the trick:
/* Hide page title on homepage only */ .home .pagetitle { display: none; }p.s. I’ve moved this thread to the CSS Customization forum – in future, you can post requests directly there.
-
momsbrownthumb – as a side note, your theme Linen is quite old and is not responsive, so it doesn’t adjust to mobile devices automatically like a modern theme would, making it very difficult to read on a tablet or phone. I would strongly recommend switching to a newer, responsive theme. Dara’s a good one that has a nice front-page slider and a similar page layout: https://darademo.wordpress.com/
Here are a couple of things to watch out for when switching themes:
I’d be glad to help if you need assistance with anything related to switching. As a Premium-plan customizer, you’re also entitled to live-chat and email support, accessible here:

You’re welcome to still post in these forums, but those other support avenues may be faster, and you’ll always get a staff reply, while the forums are a mix of staff and volunteers, and staff doesn’t answer every question.

My apologies….I thought I posted in the CSS Support Forum. I’ll look into a different theme. I was thinking the same thing when all the other support threads were months/years old. Thank you for your help!

Kathryn,
I think the best thing for me to do is to move to a self-hosted wordpress.com blog. Certainly I need help with the transition. Would that be through you or could you connect me with an appropriate contact?
Thanks!

Hi Tammy – I’d be glad to help with this. Let me know what you’re hoping to achieve with a self-hosted WordPress site that isn’t possible with your current site? That would be really helpful.
Before moving, it would also be a good idea to be super clear on the differences between the platforms, so have a look here:
Our Business plan lets you install your own plugins and themes, and is a great choice for folks who don’t want to worry about installing and maintaining software, handling security, and all the other things that become your responsibility with a self-hosted site.
If you do decide to move and heed help, we offer a Guided Transfer service.

Hi Kathryn,
I don’t think I’m ready to invest in a business plan just yet. It would make more sense once there is an established following. I’ve been reading many different articles and blogs about the best ways to go about blogging. So many talk about monetization and which platform is most profitable. I know with what I have now I can monetize with wordads and affiliate marketing,
but would need to upgrade to Business if I get to a point of ecommerce (correct me if I’m wrong). So, I’ve researched and decided to stay where I am now and change to the Dara theme. Any help with that would be appreciated.
Thanks again,
Tammy
