CSS continuity across browser/version/mac/PC

  Hi all –

  I was hoping you can help me with establishing some sort of continuity across browser/version/mac/PC.

  In Safari everything looks perfect, but as soon as I go to internet explorer, firefox, or a PC, some combination of the following doesn’t work. There is about a 3/4 gap between the right border and the rest of the blog. The sidebar gets smaller and smaller with each saved style sheet. Here is my blog –

  There are very few people around the forum who know anything about CSS. You may get faster help just through googling solutions.

  Solving cross-browser CSS issues is a career in itself.

  Use Firebug on Firefox. It will help you to find the cause of the gap:

  The sidebar gets smaller and smaller with each saved style sheet

  This makes me wonder if one of the problems might be the way you are using the CSS editor. Do you have ‘Add to existing stylesheet’ or ‘Start from scratch’ checked? The easiest way to use the CSS is just to add the altered sections of code to the editor and add this to the existing stylesheet. The thing that can mess everything up is to copy the whole stylesheet into the box AND have ‘Add to existing stylesheet’ checked.

  Usually I’ll change something on the sheet (like 5px to 10 px) and then I’ll click to view the style sheet. Then I’ll click to save it.

  Occassionally, after I’ve viewed the preview, I’ll hit the edit button to undo.

  Could this affect the sidebar?

  Yeah I’ll have to check firebug. I downloaded it, but for some reason found it easier to use the CSS in wordpress. I’ll give it a look again. Thanks

  Where do you do this? In the editing box?

  Why are you clicking to view the stylesheet?

  And in particular, you didn’t answer my previous question which is the crucial one, are you using the ‘Add to existing stylesheet’ or the ‘Start from Scratch’ option?
