CSS Editing available with domain hosting?

    Hello,

I just recently started blogging on WordPress and am looking into getting wordpress hosting on godaddy.com. Does this allow for me to edit CSS and be able to fully customize my blog or do I still have to buy credits from wordpress to do that?

    Thank you for any help

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

If your blog is not hosted here, then you can do whatever your host allows. If you are thinking of just buying a domain name from GoDaddy and mapping it to your WordPress.com blog, then that won’t do a thing for your CSS. It all depends where the blog itself is going to be hosted.

I want a fully customizable blog, able to make my own layout and pages but I want the system and backend of wordpress.

Where should I get my blog hosted then? Any suggestions? or should I start a blog on my own hosted domain without wordpress to do that?

@kathy, do you know PHP scripting and are you versed in all the security issues with PHP scripting?

WordPress themes are written in PHP script. HTML will not work.

i thought I could edit themes with CSS and I eventually wanted to create my own layout, I figured xhtml and CSS would be all I need to know if I had wordpress.

So where can I host my wordpress blog and edit CSS? is that not possible do I have to buy the credits?

In order to fully customize your blog, as you asked in the first post, you’ll need to be fluent in PHP scripting.

If you want to be hosted here, you can learn CSS and then purchase teh CSS upgrade. If you want a unique domain name, you can buy the domain upgrade and call it Whatever.com or Whatever.org or whatever you like; that’s a separate upgrade.

When you’re versed in PHP and confident, then you can move your blog off WordPress.com and onto a different platform where you can do much more than just tweak the CSS and truly customize it. With the CSS upgrade, there’s only so much you can do.

Thank you for your help so far.

I basically want to model mine off of this: drivenfaroff.com to a smaller scale. They use wordpress – can you explain if you know how they did that using wordpress? You said once i know PHP i can move off wordpress but what if I want to use the wordpress platform I can learn PHP and fully customize it and host it somewhere else?

If you learn PHP you can host it anywhere you want.

It might be easier to give you solutions if you explain what you mean by “fully customizable.” CSS alone will NEVER get you to that point. I’m assuming you have specific things and changes in mind; tell us what they are and we can tell you if they’re possible here.
