CSS failure MIME type error
-
I’m having a very peculiar error when trying to load my wordpress blog from home. It loads without CSS formatting at all. This applies to the dashboard as well. The strangest part is this: It only loads with these errors from my house. Accessing it from anywhere else seems fine.
Here is the error that I get in the Chrome inspector:
<i>Resource interpreted as Stylesheet but transferred with MIME type text/html</i>
At first I thought it might be an issue with some of the resource servers, but after examining the inspector at my friend’s house (where it loads properly) it seems to be pulling from the same servers.
Additional information:
- It affects all of the computers connected to my home network
- I use Verizon FIOS, and when I called them they insisted that this was a a browser issue.
- The problem affects all browsers that I have tried on computers connected to my home network: Chrome, Safari, Firefox, and Opera. I thought it might be a Webkit issue, but since the problem persists in Firefox I’m no longer so sure.
- It affects both my Mac laptop, PC laptop, and iPad. My 3G phone was unaffected (as is loading from anywhere else on the planet, apparently.) This leads me to believe that it’s some kind of router or strange malware issue.
The site I’m working with is clinerosedesigns.wordpress.com
Thank you for any advice or help you can provide.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

If it affects all browsers then it is NOT a browser issue. Most likely it is a misbehaving invisible proxy server at the ISP that is not caching those files for whatever reason.
Do you have any sort of virus protection installed?

Norton Antivirus. Ran both that and some Malware detection and came up with nothing. Also checked all of the proxy settings both on my laptops and on the router itself (by logging in). There’s nothing there. No site-specific security settings for wordpress.com sites either. It’s baffling. I’m at my friends house now (who also has FIOS) and everything is working just fine.
I see from another post that’s active in this forum today that someone is having the same problem.

Try logging out, clear your browser cache and cookies, restart your browser and then temporarily disabling your virus protection (but only surf to your blog and dashboard while testing) to see what happens.
Make sure and reenable your virus protection after testing.

I’ve done this numerous times will all of my browsers. It seems others are having this problem (see the ‘Bare bones’ problem that’s currently at the top of the Support forum). It might be something specific to Verizon in our area.

Yeah it would be interesting to see what ISPs people are on. I’m on Verizon, but in Hawaii and I’m not experiencing any issues.

Could you test these links and let us know if you can access them? What you should see is a bunch of text (CSS actually). If you can access some, but not all, let us know which you cannot access.

Thank you for posting this. I will try this when I’m home. Right now I’m working from a friend’s house where everything has been fine.
