CSS img header problem
-
hi folks
im the web designer for elspeththompson.co.uk and look in when elspeth asks at her blog http://elspeththompson.wordpress.com/.
ive bought the CSS upgrade for her space which is using the MistyLook CSS theme. I’ve recently edited the CSS file and have tried to load the alterations but. . . I cant get the (also) reworked header to show. see elspeth’s blog for where im upto so far.
Heres the CSS file for the site
http://elspeththompson.wordpress.com/wp-content/themes/pub/mistylook/style.css
with the key section below:
#headerimage {
clear: both;
background: #fff url(img/misty.jpg) no-repeat 0 0;
margin: 10px;
color: #fff;
height: 200px;and heres what ive written
#headerimage {
clear: both;
background: #fff url(img/blog_headernew.jpg ) no-repeat 0 0;
margin: 10px;
color: #fff;
height: 200px;so, assuming my file path is correct my problem seems to be getting the new CSS file to load and write over the existing CSS file. ive tried the ‘Start from scratch and just use this’ option replacing the existing css with my version but to avail.
hope this isnt too long winded, maybe im missing something pretty fundamental at the coalface? im not familiar with the blog dashboard so its very possible.
many thanks for your patience and consideration

You don’t want to put your email in the forum like that; spammers will grab it.
So that’s your header image. I can’t see it in place on the blog either. Is it the right size? You may also have an issue with the underscore: sometimes that’s a problem for WP.com and sometimes it’s not. Try renaming the image without the underscore and re-uploading it.

Did you try uploading through the Custom Image Header as well as the CSS? Sometimes that screws things up.
Also, I might be wrong about this, but don’t you have to have the full url for the image in the code? Beginning with http, like raincoaster has it. And, btw, when I click on that link it tells me there’s nothing there. So I’d make sure you’ve got the correct and complete url and see if that works.

ros and rain!
well done both, it was a combination of both your posings. Thank You.
1. the underscore was causing problems in finding the file, so i had to change that and then
as ros pointed out
2. i needed the full file path http:. . . blah to get the site to find the image.
building websites and working in the blogosphere are two seperate creatures and my littel knowledge looks to be a dangerous thing. all good now
omce again thank you
oh yeah. . . how do i edit the original email to remove my foolishly placed email address. . .
will the questions never cease!

The modlook tag should bring along a staff member soon who will delete your email address for you.
Glad it worked!
