CSS @import or HTML
-
That I am neither allowed to @import a CSS-file nor to add a CSS-file through an HTML widget via <link rel=”stylesheet” in WordPress Premium gives me the creeps.
Besides from that this restriction is complete bull****, why am I supposed to write hundreds of lines CSS into a tiny tiny window that does not even work correctly? It sometimes would delete parts of my code and also has this weird bug that sometimes I would add code, but the the words are spelled incorrectly, it would not add the characters I type in the correct order…???
I am already growing grey hair and have bitten into my keyboard out of anger. It’s a stupid move not to allow embedding CSS in the first place but this annoying bug and the tiny window are just ridiculous. If I could afford the Business plan, I would just switch to it, but seriously, I can’t. So I am stuck with a paid hosting plan that wants me to edit hundreds lines of code in a tiny window that does not even work correctly.
If one of your happiness engineers had an idea how I could bypass the <link or the @import restrictions, please please please do get in touch with me. Thank you!
I thought of something like <linK rel=”stylesheet” type=”text/css” href=”https://abc.com/dev.css”> but it didn’t work either :-(
Thank you for your effort.

Hi there!
What exactly are you trying to achieve?
On Premium plan you can add custom CSS code directly from My Site>Design>Customize>CSS. You won’t be able to import the CSS files, but you can add there any modifications you need. Also, remember that with your plan you can access Live Chat directly via https://wordpress.com/help/contact. That way you can get help faster.

Hi,
I am in the middle of customizing the layout and already have 300 lines of CSS-code for which this buggy little window is definitely not prepared for….. You wouln’t write a book in such a tiny field, also I cannot rely on the search function it’s a pain in the…
So I created a sub domain which holds a CSS file that I would embed while still working on the blog and an conveniently prepare in Dreamweaver which provides not only a full screen code window, but also indicated errors and has a superb serch function and NO BUGS LIKE YOUR S***** CSS WINDOW.
I know I can chat with your colleagues, but I stayed up until 5 am trying and trying so somehow bypass this ridiculous restriction and I was anry like hell already.
So again, If anyone had an idea how I could import or link to an external CSS-file, I would very much appreciate your help.
I tried HTML conform language like = instead of typing the word “link” etc, but instead of providing a useful CSS-solution your team has obviously spent days implementing this silly restriction instead of fixing the bugs in the CSS editor…
I posted in the forum hoping for someone to have an idea. Because if your tiny CSS window one more time deletes some of my code, or starts with this bug where the characters I type are not written in the correct order and cannot be fixed until I reload the page, I will literally fly to San Francisco and punch the happy manager who is responsible for this stupid restriction and for the tiny buggy editor window in his happy face to make him wake up and come back to planet earth again.
I thought I’ll go with wordpress.com because everything will be running smoothly there, no hassle like with wordpress.org sometimes. I am fine with not being allowed to install plugins (even I ask myself: why???) or not being allowed to create a child theme (again: why???) but this tiny buggy CSS window is the one thing I am not going to accept. It is stupid, it is buggy, and you know this as well as I do.

Thank you for your helpful and quick response!
I just learnt that WordPress.com Business subscription would allow to even create child themes and edit PHP, JS and CSS locally before uploading. You get an SFTP account and could actually work on it like with a wordpress.org installation.
Im am still unsure about the price but will definitely think about it.
Thanks again :-)
