CSS in Booklet theme

  • Unknown's avatar

Hi — I’d like to hide the categories and tags in the Booklet theme. I can’t figure out how to do it without hiding the “Related Posts” feature. I’d also like the “Related Posts” feature to be larger.

    Thanks for your help!

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

This is not the CSS Customization Forum: it is the Support Forum.

Every theme has a detailed theme description page. This one is at https://wordpress.com/theme/booklet that’s where set up instructions for it and the live demo site link is found.

The short answer is that you have the ability to edit the CSS stylesheet only when you upgrade to WordPress.COM Premium or Business plans.

The only themes we can use on WordPress.COM hosted sites are here https://wordpress.com/themes/ The way your theme is designed to function and the features it has are found at the detailed description page, for example at https://wordpress.com/theme/resonar and that’s where the live demo site link is also found. We cannot change how any theme functions. We can do some CSS editing to change appearance only if we have the required upgrade.

WordPress.COM is a multi user blogging platform with off the shelf themes and it’s aimed for use by those who do not code. Each theme is uniquely designed. We wordpress.com bloggers do not have access to the template files underlying our themes and we cannot edit them, as our blogs share a common architecture, and as all blogs wearing the same theme use the same underlying template, found on the live demo site for each theme.

Does Customize let me edit HTML?
No. Customize allows you to edit fonts, colors, and CSS only. You can change the appearance of a theme, but not its HTML markup or PHP code. If you require this functionality, please consider moving your blog to a web host that supports theme code modifications. You can read more about why here http://support.wordpress.com/code/, and find a suitable host here http://get.wp.com/hosting/.

See here for details on purchasing an annually renewable Premium or Business plan https://wordpress.com/pricing/ that contains a custom design upgrade required for CSS editing.

Note 1: Once you have the required upgrade you can use this link https://en.forums.wordpress.com/forum/css-customization#postform so you can create a thread that will appear in the CSS Forum where you will get the help you need with CSS editing.

Note 2: You can also post there prior to purchasing an upgrade to get an answer to whether or not what you want to do can be accomplished via CSS editing.

I will post this question on the CSS forum. I apologize that I have the wrong forum. I DO HAVE THE PREMIUM PLAN.
Your answer is convoluted and appears to be aimed to make me feel like a fool. I do not appreciate that kind of condescending attitude. My question is legitimate and simply was posted on the wrong forum. That’s all you needed to say.

I am sorry that my answer seems convoluted to you band that you choose to label it as condescending. I posted the whole thing above to save you time so if your site was hosted here and did have the required upgarde you would have the custom design support doc links.

I did not know if you were referring to a site hosted by wordpress.COM with a Premium or Business upgrade.

I did not know if you were referring to a site that was not hosted by wordpress.COM. Know that about 30% of those who post here every day are actually posting to the wrong support forum and ought to post to wordpress.ORG support.

It may be a good idea to stop the judging of responses you receive on these peer support forums and start accepting the Staff help that is available to all those with upgrades. Those who have a paid upgrade for a wordpress.COM site can use the “Contact Support” form, http://support.wordpress.com/contact/

The best WordPress.COM contact form to use now for Staff assistance is:
http://wordpress.com/help/contact. Live chat will be available there only if we have Happiness Engineers available to chat. When they are not available using that link results in posting to this peer support forum. https://en.support.wordpress.com/live-chat/

Lastly for direct email support you can email WordPress.COM Staff at:
    help@wordpress.com

P.S. You will have to find it in your heart to forgive the typos I made above as I am visually challenged.

Thank you for taking the time to help me. I apologize for my response. I have just experienced a significant loss in my life and my emotions over that situation are crossing over to other, unrelated situations.

As for the typos, I didn’t even notice, in fact, looking back at what you wrote I still don’t see them.

Again, I apologize for my response, and I appreciate your efforts to help.

Oh dear. I’m so sorry for your loss. I too have lost people who were near and dear to me and I know what an emotional roller coaster ride mourning can be. May peace be with you.

Thank you. It is a challenging journey, navigating through grief, and a learning process. I generally am nice to a fault, so I’m sorry you saw that side of me. Onward…

Onward and upward (here’s a hug () for you).

Thank you!! That means a lot!! (Sorry it took so long to respond — I took a break from emails for a few days.)
