CSS Newbie
-
Hi guys! I am very, very new to blogging, and CSS. I currently have the “mellow” theme, and my blog just isn’t looking like the theme advertises. A few things I’d like help with:
1. Changing my blog to have 1 page upon entering. The “main” page. Right now, all my entries are listed one after the other on the front page– and I’m not sure how to change this.
2. With mention of the front main page, I’d like the title of the blog and the picture to become much larger, like many of the advertised themes show.
3. I’d like to change the font style of the blog’s name.
4. Finally, I’d like to have my entries accessible by a sidebar menu, and have my “About me” accessible here, too.
Everything else, I think I can fiddle around with and make it work– eventually!
I’d really appreciate any input :)The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
1. Changing my blog to have 1 page upon entering. The “main” page. Right now, all my entries are listed one after the other on the front page– and I’m not sure how to change this.
You can set a static front page and then create a Posts page. For more on that, see our Front Page support document.
2. With mention of the front main page, I’d like the title of the blog and the picture to become much larger, like many of the advertised themes show.
Go to Appearance > Customize > CSS, delete all the informational text in that window, and paste in the following custom CSS. You can adjust the title font size as desired.
img.site-logo { max-height: none; height: auto; max-width: 93%; width: 100%; } h1.site-title { font-size: 1.3889em; }3. I’d like to change the font style of the blog’s name.
Currently you are using a custom font for the headings. This is applied to various heading elements in the theme. You can only choose and use two custom fonts (heading and base font). Which font did you want to use for the site title?
4. Finally, I’d like to have my entries accessible by a sidebar menu, and have my “About me” accessible here, too.
Posts and pages will have sidebars unless pages are set to use the full-width (no sidebar) template. When you create your static home page, make sure it is set to the Default Page template. You can then add a Custom Menu Widget to the sidebar and use a Custom Menu.
For a listing of posts, you can use the Recent Posts Widget. See also the discussion on using a Text Widget with the Display Posts Shortcode.
