why do we have to continuously pay more for website? i have noticed there is still a date in the url to my posts on wordpress.com i changed from wordpress.org thinking the visibility would be better more people read wordpress.com however, you can’t do anything without paying more. it doesn’t help to get noticed when you are constantly paying . is there not a css code to add to remove that famous date in the url?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hello there,

    I hear your frustration.

The date format is the default permalink structure for blog posts on WordPress.com. At the moment, this cannot be changed unless your site is on a plugin-enabled plan like the Business or Commerce plan. These plans allow more advanced customization options, including the use of permalink plugins that let you remove the date structure. You can learn more about this here: https://wordpress.com/support/change-the-permalink-structure/

Unfortunately, there isn’t a CSS workaround for this, permalinks are a server-level configuration and not something that can be changed through styling.

We appreciate your feedback and will share it with the team, especially around how this impacts the visibility and control you expected when making the move.
