CSS schools in the new york city area….
-
hi,
I’m in the process of learning css via linda.com. It’s pretty good, but I feel like I need a real class or intensive program. Can anyone suggest a particular school that has a strong web curriculum? I would love to get some advanced css/html and a cms system under my belt.sincerely,

My first thought was the New School, but I’m really not sure what, if anything, they have and if they do, it’s probably a major commitment. I know the NYPL offers courses/workshops that are pretty basic but someone there might be able to refer you. The Mid-Manhattan branch (catty corner from the Lions) is where they’re held.

Ellaella,
Thanks for the reply.
I just went to your blog and am really impressed.
Did you design and program that all yourself? How did you get the skills to do that?
best,

Thank you very much! Yes, the design and CSS are 100% my efforts; programming is mostly over my head but if I’m led by the hand I can follow.
I learned CSS primarily from the online tutorials linked to here and in the CSS editor of the .com blogs. I only learned a little at a time, as I needed it, and one day it just all became clear.
Some people swear by a Firefox extension called Firebug as a learning tool (IE8 has an almost identical tool built in) but I had to learn the basics before Firebug made any sense to me. Then it helped. We all learn differently, so ymmv.
CSS is a lot of fun, as you’ve discovered.
