CSS support for Thickbox?
-
Hi all,
I’d love to find some CSS information concerning Thickbox. I’d like to modify the pop-up box. Maybe change the color and/or thickness of the box. I’m only using Thickbox on one post: https://artprovesthesoul.com/2016/02/01/chocolate-crawl/.
I’ve read through a bunch of the support forums and haven’t been able to locate the information. Any help is so appreciated! I’m thinking what I’m looking for is simple. I hope, I hope, I hope. Oh, I’m using the Hero theme. The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi Mary,
You can absolutely change the look of that popup box with some custom CSS.
The following snippet will change the background colour of the box:
#TB_window { background-color: #555; }You can change the value of #555 to any HEX code of your choice. If you’d like to experiment with different colours, try a few Google searches to get a list of HEX codes and their corresponding values.
Here’s an example of a site that I’ve used before:
You can also add a border to increase the thickness of the box:
#TB_window { border: 10px solid #555; }In the above snippet, increase or decrease the 10px value in order to increase or decrease the size of the border. Additionally, change #555 to whichever colour you set as your background colour.
Hope that’s helpful! Please do let me know if you have any extra questions.

Your advise worked perfectly. I chose to change the thickbox’s border color to black, to work with my theme’s background color. Yay, thank you.
AND I like your HEX information better than the one web site I have been using. The information on you HEX site is more detailed. -
Hi Mary,
I’m so glad that I was able to help out. :) If you have any extra questions then you know where to find us.

Hello again dear Siobhyb,
I ran into a bit of difficulty & possibly you could help?
I added thickboxes to two other posts and discovered each of the three posts with thickboxes are showing all the pop-up boxes for all three posts. Not good. Each individual post ought to only show their own pop-up boxes. What do you imagine I’ve done wrong? Or, what do you imagine I need to do?
Thank you in advance! -
Mary Maude – could you please provide links to the specific posts that have an issue? Thanks.

This is so interesting! when viewing, my posts page the affected entries show the extra pop-ups. But when viewing the affected posts individually the pop-ups behave appropriately. The affected post entries are:
got art gallery spring group show
chocolate crawl for a cause
MICROCOSMOS exhibition
dragon growler
Please check out my posts page to view the affected posts. Again, the 4 affected post entries behave just fine when viewed individually.
Thank you for looking into this. I betcha this minor problem is so simple for you. -
I had a look at your blog page but I can’t see anything amiss.
Could you please upload a screenshot to help in troubleshooting?
Here’s a guide on how to make a screenshot:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/make-a-screenshot/You can upload the screenshot – in a graphic format like JPG, PNG, or PDF – in your Media Library so I can see it. Thanks.

Hi there again Kathry(SP?),
I’ve uploaded a snipet in my Media Library called, “thickbox”. Upon viewing you will notice there are 6 images associated with this posting called, “got art gallery spring group show”. This posting should only have 2 photos associated with it. Thank you again! -
Thanks for the screenshot, that’s helpful. I can’t see what’s causing this so I’m going to ask our developers to take a look.
Have you considering using more standard galleries with the carousel?
This is actually the first time I’ve encountered Thickbox here in almost four years and I’m not sure how actively developed it is. :-)

I just did some further research and it looks like we don’t support the Thickbox hack anymore. It doesn’t work at all for any user who is not logged in and may not work reliably even for logged-in users, as you’ve seen.
A better solution for displaying multiple images in a post is to use regular WordPress galleries and have them open in a Carousel. Those are well supported and should work for any user.

What a pity. I like thickbox. I am familiar with the gallery and carousel. Again what a pity but glad to know what to do now. I’ll have to remove thickbox. Hey, big thank you for checking into the problem.
