CSS to customize
-
Is there anyway to control the distance of the social media icons (1st widget) from the menu bar with css?
Also, when viewing site or mobile site, theres three dots at the bottom of the page that allows u to log in. Thats convinent to me, but for anyone viewing my site it will look unprofessional. Anyway to hide that in general with css?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hello Tylerbernhardt,
Is there anyway to control the distance of the social media icons (1st widget) from the menu bar with css?
This should do the trick (modify the 21px to whatever distance you would like it to be)
#text-20 img { margin: 0 21px; }Also, when viewing site or mobile site, theres three dots at the bottom of the page that allows u to log in. Thats convinent to me, but for anyone viewing my site it will look unprofessional. Anyway to hide that in general with css?
#actionbar { display: none; }Let me know if that works!

#actionbar {
visibility: hidden;

Anyone else here on Personal plan being advised to upgrade to Premium to get rid of this annoying “feature”? -
Thanks so much for your help, @sagebrownell!
@tylerbernhardt, @tedthesite: It’s worth highlighting that the action bar will only be visible to you while logged in as an admin on your site. Visitors will not be able to see it.

Sorry siobhyb, but some form of the action bar is visible to everyone, no matter if they are logged on or not, unless the site owner (that’s you and me) turns the action bar visibility off using CSS as a Premium Plan (or more) wordpress subscriber.
So technically, WordPress has provided a way for anyone to follow your page – either by signing up to WordPress, or by signing up to follow your page via email, by clicking on the three ellipses that now appear on all websites (again, unless turned off by the website owner via CSS).
#actionbar {
visibility: hidden;
}Works very well if you don’t want followers, but you loose quick access to your admin panel when you are logged on.
No perfect solution. I guess they are working on it.

Hi @tedthesite,
Apologies, I misunderstood the main concern here: As an admin viewing your site, only you will be able to the buttons to edit or customise your site from the action bar. I originally thought that those specific buttons being visible to your visitors was the concern.
You’re right that the action bar does display to your site’s visitors. The options available to them, however, are limited. For example, they’ll be able to follow/unfollow your site if logged in but won’t have access to edit or customise your site.
If you’d like to keep the action bar visible to you as an admin viewing your site but hide the options that are available to visitors, then that’s possible with the following custom CSS:
.actnbr-has-follow { display: none; }It’s worth noting that, even without a visible action bar, it’s technically possible for anyone on the web to follow a publicly available site. If you truly don’t want followers then you may wish to consider adjusting your site’s privacy settings.
Let me know if that helps.

Hi, @siobhyb
I had not idea!!
I’m pretty tech savy and. I thought it was only possible to follow blogs and social media. I imagine if it were not for the three ellipses at the bottom of my site, most people would have no idea they could follow my static site.
Its a confusing concept. What would they be following, – each time I changed themes, fonts, colors, updated my phone number?
If it’s not too much off topic, could you tell me how it is possible to follow https://wordpress.com/#plans. I’d love to be able to subscribe to some way of knowing if you have a price change, automatically.
Thanks

Hi @tedthesite,
You’re right that your site’s followers will only receive updates for new posts that you publish. They can also view existing posts via your feed here:
https://tedthesite.wordpress.com/feed/
Followers won’t be notified of new published pages (only posts) or of edits to published posts/pages.
To keep updated on changes to our plans, feel free to follow the WordPress.com blog:
https://en.blog.wordpress.com/
We post announcements on major changes and new features there.
If you have any extra questions then please can you start a new thread on this forum?
It’s easier for us to keep track of different questions if they’re kept to separate threads and also prevents the original poster from receiving unnecessary email notifications.
Thanks!
