CSS Upgrade question

I’m new to WP so tell me if I’m wrong, If I upgrade then I can change my header to whatever I want image I want from my own computer, and I can change the colors of the main page/widgets/font etc….
If I stay w/the free acct I can only change the header to the 20 or so headers that WP already offers, the colors stay the same on the rest of the page. TIA

Many themes have custom headers, allowing you to change the header image to anything you choose without any upgrade at all. For more about the css upgrade, see:

There is also a very useful free preview feature in the CSS editor. This allows you to experiment and see whether you can achieve what you want BEFORE paying money for the upgrade. The CSS upgrade is only recommended for those who have experience with CSS. There is no staff support and very few volunteers on the forums who can help you with it either.

I don’t understand this. I would like to buy the upgrade editor, but I can’t get even the preview to work. I did the view template thing–it popped up in dreamweaver and gave me all the CSS. I copy and pasted some of into the block, then changed colors and widths just to see what would happen. I clicked preview–got no changes at all. What am I doing wrong?

All right, I got it to change colors, so I’ve got it working. Sort of. It didn’t do what I expected, but I guess that’s sort of a question of taking many almost-educated guesses.
