Cubic theme: Can I remove the date of publishing on each post?
-
I’ve just changed my theme to the cubic theme and the posts aways show the date that it was posted. Is there a way to remove the date or at least hide it?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there. The only way I know of to hide the date from showing if your theme shows it is by editing your themes CSS, and you can only do that with the Custom Design upgrade in the premium and business bundles.
You can post your question in the CSS customisation forum for info on what code will be needed to make this change: https://en.forums.wordpress.com/forum/css-customization#postform
See here for more info on the custom design upgrade:

That is blackmail. The theme should allow at least this option free. Big thumbs down.
Also I would like to get rid of the huge feature picture on the page itself while keeping the landing page as an index. So that people can see the content at once without having to scroll down.

Meet Cubic, a single-column, grid-based theme with large featured images, perfect for photoblogging.
https://wordpress.com/themes/cubic/That is how this theme is designed. If you don’t want featured images, why did you pick a theme that uses featured images as its defining characteristic?
If you don’t want a featured image to appear on individual posts/pages, then don’t assign one when you create the post/page. Simple as that.
Also, taking a quick look it appears that everything you’ve done so far are the type of things people generally put on pages, while you’ve placed that information on posts. Take you About, for example: as it is that is your very first post, so eventually it will be at the very bottom of your feed. If you place it in a page it is stored in a completely different area of your site structurally. Consider looking into that: http://en.support.wordpress.com/post-vs-page/

WordPress.com is a business, and as such they have the right to charge whatever they want for whatever service they want, especially as they already give us the most of their services for free, and as a customer you have the right to not pay for said service if you feel the price does not justify it, but it’s not blackmail, it’s business.
Many free themes don’t display the date. You are welcome to pick one of those if you don’t want to pay for Custom Design.

That’s what I wanted. It took me a while but I couldn’t find another theme that gave me the kind of index page I wanted. Then it took me a while to discover that I had to pretend my pages were posts. So it’s a bodge.
However, I can easily write the same design in 10 lines of HTML so I would like to withdraw the sitename from wordpress and host it somewhere else.

Have you looked at the portfolio-themes? Many of them use a grid-type layout for portfolio projects which are closer to pages than posts. That might serve your needs better.
I’m specifically thinking Sketch might work for you – besides the grid-based portfolio page, it also has an optional featured post slider and it doesn’t display the dates on the thumbnails on that page nor, if I remember correctly, on posts in the main feed.
If you want to move to a different host, you can either keep your domain registered with WordPress.com and just change your name servers or custom A records to use that domain with a different host, or you can transfer your domain to another registrar completely, provided the registrar supports incoming domain transfers.
Instructions for all three methods can be found here: http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/move-domain/
