Cubic theme doesn't accept video as "image" in cube

This morning I posted video of the birds chirping, the only media I planned to put in the post. But when I clicked publish, the Cube that sits on the blog home screen was black, the video was IN the post but it doesn’t register as a default. I had to go back and insert a still photo before the video clip in order for the Cube to register with an image.

Can this be addressed? There are several times when I post video as my only thread media but I don’t want my readers to see a big black hole on the front page.

Thanks in advance for any help.

    @ eosresurfaces,
    Hi,
You can change the default palette of background colors that will appear on the posts page when neither a featured image is added nor an image embedded in the post. See also the theme option “Only use featured images on blog index.” The description of this option in the Cubic theme guide:

If your post doesn’t have a featured image but does include images, Cubic will display the first image attached to the post. If you prefer only featured images to be displayed, check the box.

I’m not sure if featured images appear on the individual posts or not with the Cubic theme. If they don’t, then adding a featured image to each post, and checking the box to display only featured images, is a course of action that will resolve your issue.

  • Featured images need to be in an image format to be picked up and displayed on the grid page – they don’t support video. Adding a featured image – perhaps a still from the video – is a good workaround.
