Cubic Theme – problem with squares displa

    Hi,

I am thinking of using the Cubic theme, and so I have been having a play with it. I do not want to use featured images.

I set up three “noddy” posts which contained the same mixture of three images and a little bit of text.

I moved the images around to check that the first image in each post was displayed in the squares, as the documentation indicates. Although this seemed to work ok on “third post” and “fourth post”, the image on the square for “second post” remained the same whatever I seemed to do. This included eventually deleting the offending image from the post. It still appeared in the square!

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks.

  • If you choose not to use featured images in Cubic, the theme looks for the first image “attached” to the post, which is normally the first image you upload in a particular post, while in the post editor.

You can better see which images are attached to each post, and in what order, in the WP Admin Media Library, in List view:

    https://bksandboxsite.wordpress.com/wp-admin/upload.php?mode=list

You can see that the first image attached to “second post” is the one called “thumbnailforxmas.” — so that’s what you see in the front-page cube for that post.

If there is no image at all attached to a post, Cubic will use the first image displayed in the post, even if you didn’t originally upload it to that post, which is what’s happening on “post three” and “post four.”

You can attach and detach images to posts within the Media Library, by clicking the “attach” or “detach” link next to an image. Right now you’ll only see “detach” links since all three of your images are attached to a post.

Let me know how it goes.
