Cubic Theme Set Up? New to this

    If you have the cubic theme chosen and want to make a welcome page, is that the static page? How is a page displayed and a post? I want to make three categories in the header where people can click and the choose sub categories on the welcome page. First categories Special Posts, second on insights and third updates. All subcategories like posts. How can you get more cubicles at the front page if you I don’t put have a static page. This is all new to me! Grateful for help
