Cubic type theme

I really like the free Cubic theme available to everyone and haven’t found one I like nearly as much.

However, I want the menu across the top, below the header, rather than a drop down list, from a small button in the corner. I also like the idea of having a side bar on the right hand side.

Is there anyway to edit the theme so I get these things? Or would a new theme have to be created?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

• There isn’t a way to modify Cubic to have the features you’re looking for, you would need to choose a new theme.

You could start by searching the theme directory with the word “grid”:

I just switched to the Cubic theme today, after umpteen years of Vigilance. I like it but have two questions:

1. I noticed that when I posted a photo update on today’s post, it took that update photo (dress on clothes line) and made it the default for the whole post (until you open up the thread). The dress on the line is a post scrip to the entire thread and I don’t want it to ruin the entire context of the post. It gives the answer away. How can I prevent this from happening again?

2. I paid for Custom Colors when I switched to Cubic and I see it says I can drag and drop colors in to my own palette. I want the primary type face color to be black so which circle do I drag black to for that to happen? I made the typeface black now by choosing one of the pre-determined palettes but want to keep tweaking colors etc, making sure I keep the type black but working on the background colors etc.

Thanks in advance.

Do you mean that you’d like to not have any images on the homepage grid at all? Or do you just not want to have an image on the grid for this one specific post? Or something else?

I don’t think any of the custom colours would change the body text colour. The two custom colours in Cubic are for the background and accent colours, neither of which would modify the main body text.

p.s. in future, could you please start a new thread rather than adding to an existing one? It helps folks spot your question more quickly and also keeps the forums (and its search results) better organized. It also prevents the original poster from getting email updates on a thread that’s no longer about their issue. Thanks!

Thank you for responding.
1. My posts tend to be photo heavy and for whatever reason Cubic DECIDES for me which one will end up in the home page grid. I do want a photo but in my mind it should be the first photo in my post, not one arbitrarily decided by the theme.

For the post I just put up this morning I uploaded four photos I was thinking of using in the post. I decided to only insert one but when I went to publish the post, it took one I had uploaded but not inserted and made it the default grid photo! I had to trash the post, delete the other photos from my media, and start all over.

So, how do I prevent this from happening?

2. As for the custom colors, I’ll deal with that on my own later. I’m more worried about how the photos. Thanks again.

Yes, in the future I will start a new thread. I thought just the opposite because the last time I commented I was told it would be better to be inside a current thread on the topic. If you want this to move, by all means feel free to lift it out and post it as a new thread.

It should pull the first photo you insert into a post. Is it possible you’re adding the images in a different order and moving them around after?

Generally, if you’re reporting the same bug as someone else, adding your report to an existing thread is the best way to go, to prevent duplication. If you need help with something specific, as you do here, starting a new thread is best.

If you want this to move, by all means feel free to lift it out and post it as a new thread.

Our software can’t do that, but no worries.

That’s it! I arrange the photos in the post after I upload them and many times I decide to only run a couple, not all. Now that I know what’s triggered the problem, I can think before uploading. For me, easier said than done.

many thanks.
