Curious about what WordPress Version Is Used

Now that I have moved to a wordpress.com blog, (my site is http://catcharisma.com) the dashboard doesn’t show the WordPress version. Why?

Previously, I hosted and installed/upgraded my own WordPress site and I was so used to knowing what version WordPress is up to and making sure I updated if I wasn’t on the latest version. Now I have no idea what the latest WordPress version is. I also find it very useful when reading articles on WordPress.

Are we actually using the latest version of WordPress when using a wordpress.com blog?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • We always run the latest stable version of WordPress with bits of the development version thrown in. As the development version becomes more stable, usually around the second beta or first release candidate, we switch over to that.

Currently, we’re all on WordPress 3.4.1 with bits of 3.5 thrown in.

The staff do the updates for you –

Version number – who really knows? You are running a version that is newer than the WordPress.ORG software – you are one of about 30,000,000 Beta testers for WordPress software –

so how does it feel to be ahead of the pack?

Great! Thanks so much this information.

I have only just moved over from wordpress.org themes and installing my own and also with problems. It is refreshing to find out how great wordpress.com is. It is also very easy to use and as you mentioned above ‘STABLE’.

Thanks WordPress team – an inspiration!
